Honorary Degree Nominations

Dear Campus Community:

SUNY Plattsburgh is seeking nominations for the Honorary Doctorate Degree
from the State University of New York, which is the highest form of
recognition offered by SUNY to persons of exceptional distinction.

This award is presented to distinguished individuals whose achievements
and/or contributions have had positive and lasting impacts on SUNY
Plattsburgh and/or society on the state, national or international levels.

Please submit your nomination by Friday, Sept. 17.

Faculty, staff and students are asked to provide a one-page statement
justifying why SUNY Plattsburgh should recommend the individual for an
Honorary Doctorate Degree. The statement should include information on the
relevance and/or appropriateness of the nominee(s), their national or
international reputation as well as any strong connections to the SUNY
Plattsburgh campus. Detailed curriculum vitae, Who's Who entries, reviews
or articles about the nominee's work, and/or list of major awards can also
be submitted.

If a nomination is deemed appropriate, the nominator(s) may be asked to
assist the Honorary Degree Committee in completing the justification for
recommendation. The president will review the committee's recommendations
prior to submitting nominations to the chancellor.

The University-wide Committee on Honorary Degrees will review all
nominations submitted to the chancellor and then make a recommendation to
the chancellor and SUNY Board of Trustees.
