*Plattsburgh State Art Museum is pleased to announce the reopening of Burke
Gallery to the public.*

*The Refugee Trilogy* is now viewable in Burke Gallery, second floor John
Myers Building from 12-4pm Tuesday through Sunday.
*Galleries will be closed Mondays, effective September 1.*

*The Refugee Trilogy* series by Rick Shaefer, represents the
Connecticut-based artist’s passionate and cerebral response to the Syrian
refugee crisis, the seismic effects of which continue to resonate around
the globe. Employing monochromatic drawing as his medium, Shaefer creates
powerful compositions abounding with figures and motifs inspired by Rubens
and Géricault among other artists in the art historical pantheon,
harnessing the lexicon of old master painting as he plumbs the expressive
capacity of art to address the timeless human tragedy of exile, migration
and dislocation.

Opening reception will be Thursday, September 9th @5-7pm. (Free and open to
the public.) The artist will be present.
