Advising Information for the Information Literacy Competency Exam

Students may take the *Information Literacy Competency Exam *(a.k.a. the
LIB exam) as a convenient, alternative way to meet their LIB course General
Education requirement.

*Pre-registration is required* for this online, proctored exam that covers
Critical Research Skills.

*Important eligibility information:*

   - By passing the Information Literacy Competency exam, students meet the
   Information and Literacy General Education/Cardinal Core requirement, but
   do not receive the credit hour.
   - Students who have a grade of E or W for the course can meet the
   requirement by passing the exam, but the exam does not remove or replace
   the letter grade.
   - Students can take the exam more than once, but only once in any
   academic year (August--May).

*Extended time examinations through Student Support Services.
*Students eligible
for this service are requested to work with Laura Cronk
<cron1609 at plattsburgh.edu>, extended time examination coordinator, to
schedule a day and time for the exam.

*Branch Campus Exam Information:*

   - Thursday, Nov. 1, 2021 at 2 p.m. in BRY Hall.
   - Use the Branch Campus registration form, available on the main Info
   Lit exam webpage.
