*Congratulations* to the first two Cardinals certified in Customer Service
for People with Disabilities from Deque University
<https://dequeuniversity.com/>! Michelle Bonati and Heather Keane will
receive their t-shirts as soon as they are delivered from the printer.
We're not out of t-shirts yet, so hurry up and obtain your curriculum
certification while supplies last!
*In this installment of our campus updates,* we provide information for
staff and faculty with respect to services available through the college
for accommodating physical and cognitive impairments.
*First, it's a good idea to be familiar with relevant policy in our Campus
Handbook.*
*From Section II of the Campus Handbook, Policy 2002.2:*
SUNY Plattsburgh complies with the spirit and intent of all applicable
federal and state laws and regulations prohibiting discrimination,
including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended by the Equal
Employment Opportunity Act of 1972, Title IX of the Education Amendments of
1972, *the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the
Rehabilitation Act of 1973,* the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment
Assistance Act (VEVRAA), the New York State Human Rights Act, as well as
the SUNY Board of Trustees policy. *It is the policy of this college to
provide equal opportunity in education and employment for all qualified
persons;* to prohibit illegal discrimination based on age, race, religion,
color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, familial
status, *pregnancy, pre-disposing genetic characteristics,* military
status, domestic violence victim status, *disability,* or criminal
conviction; and *to promote the full realization of equal education and
employment opportunity* through a positive and continuing program of
affirmative action for the college as a whole and for each constituent unit.
*Accommodations *can come in various forms, and many may be unique to the
individual. If you or a colleague has need for accommodations, you can
start by contacting your supervisor. Or, you can go straight to *Michael
Thompson*, Affirmative Action Officer, in Human Resources. He can also help
supervisors who need more information on all available accessibility
resources for faculty and staff.

*Faculty or staff who wish to refer students for assistance:*

at both the main and Branch campuses) who identify as having a disability.
To qualify for services, students can contact SAS at plattsburgh.edu, where t
hey must register with the SAS office. Once registered, the student will
remain eligible until graduation.

following list includes some of the common accommodations available:
