FALL 2021 Theatre production of Our Town directed by Julia Devine

Starting on 11.11.21, the SUNY Plattsburgh Department of Theatre will
present Thornton Wilder’s *Our Town*. This new and modern interpretation of
the classic play features translations into Spanish by playwright Nilo Cruz
and celebrates the fictional town of Grover’s Corners as a multilingual and
multicultural community of today.



Often considered one of the greatest American plays ever written, *Our
Town* follows
the lives of two families through love, marriage, and death. Narrated by a
stage manager (in our case by 3 stage managers!), the play is performed
with minimal props and sets. *Our Town* has three acts: “Daily Life,” “Love
and Marriage” and “Death and Eternity.” The play reminds us of our shared
humanity and to be present in the moments of our lives. The character Emily
asks in the play,  “Do any human beings ever realize life while they live
it - every, every minute?”


This performance of *Our Town* will be presented in the Hartman Theatre
inside the John Myers Building and will also feature cameos by members of
the faculty, the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir and Fuerza, the Black and
Latinx Student Union. The show runs on the following dates and times:



Thursday, November 11 at 7:30pm

Friday, November 12 at 7:30pm

Saturday, November 13 at 2pm and 7:30pm



Due to health restrictions, seats for all performances are limited. Tickets
will be General Admission $8, and SUNY Students $3.

Masks are required at all times when inside on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus.
No drink or food is permitted within the theatre at this time. Don’t miss
