Tuesday Reflections presents Dr. Shawna Mefferd Kelty, Associate
Professor/Chair in the Department of Theatre speaking on Performing the
National/Cultural Identity Across the 49th Parallel: Complicating
Territories, Histories, and Identities of the War of 1812 on Tuesday, March
9, 2021 at 4:30pm via Zoom only.  Below is an abstract of Dr. Kelty's
presentation.

While the British and Americans agreed on the 49th parallel as a simple
boundary between Canada and the United States after the War of 1812,
theatre and performance across that border has been anything but simple.
The Canada-US border has not only been a frontier between nations, but also
space to complicate and interrogate national and cultural identity. Dr.
Shawna Mefferd Kelty explores the US-Canadian border crossing and contested
territories, boundaries, identities, and histories of the War of 1812 as
presented in performance.
