Past Institute Fellow Dr. Michael (M.I.) Devine, associate professor of
English at SUNY Plattsburgh, leads the Institute in a conversation about
Warhol's Mother's Pantry, his prize-winning book of essays, and POP for the
People, the exhibit he's curated on Pop as civic art that's now running in
the college’s Burke Gallery.
A self-described "pop practitioner," Devine has had his works across forms
(music, film, writing) featured this year in dozens of outlets, including
NPR Music, American Songwriter, Talkhouse, and The Chicago Review of Books.
Winner of the 2018 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching,
Devine has been widely recognized with several fellowships and for his
innovative approach to the essay form, literature, art history, early
cinema, and American studies.
