Colleagues,
The existing financial situation has forced Feinberg Library into some
tough decisions. Campus budget reductions directly affect our capacity to
support all our current subscriptions for periodicals. As a result, we have
had to cancel some subscriptions, reducing our periodical expenditures by
$75,000 for the 2021 subscription year.

A special informational Faculty Senate meeting has been scheduled for
Thursday, February 4th at 3:30 pm to allow for discussion.
We realize that any individual subscription is a value to those using it.
In making decisions, we looked at frequency of use. We examined every
online journal subscription to determine if there were usage statistics
available, and then assessed three-to-five years of usage of the title.
Low-use journal subscriptions have been canceled. Many print subscriptions
have been canceled because they show virtually no usage.
The library will retain access to journal content for which we have already
paid. Also, we encourage you to continue requesting journal articles
through InterLibrary Loan
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/academics/library/interlibrary-loan.html>, as
that service is still strong.
Please feel free to contact me or your departmental liaison for further
information.
Best regards,
Gordon
