Dear Colleagues;
As we approach the end of Academic Advising, I am writing to alert you to a
change in DegreeWorks that will take place next Monday, April 19.

   - To facilitate advising and registration for incoming students, three
different "General Education" sections will be possible on the DegreeWorks
   Audit.

   - Each student audit will display the appropriate General Education
   section for their situation:

   - Continuing students and re-admits will see GE5 (no change)

New students (first-time/full-time and transfers) with fewer than 24
credits will see Cardinal Core Transfer students with 24 or more credits
will see SUNY GE (abbreviated SGE). (These students do not have to meet the
requirements of CCC for a Foundation seminar and upper-level credits: they
only need to complete 30 credits in SUNY-required knowledge areas. The
necessary Knowledge Areas and appropriate courses will be displayed on
DegreeWorks.)Advising/pre-registering students in Cardinal Core Curriculum
will be very similar to how it is done currently, selecting courses to meet
categories. There is no need for advisors or students to keep track of the
various 'skills' or 'perspectives' areas of the program.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this
transition.

Best wishes,
Wendy
