An Ethics Institute colloquy with Dr. Jessamyn Neuhaus

Wednesday, April 7, 2021, noon – 1 p.m.

The health emergency that has persisted over the last thirteen months has
produced a variety of challenges within institutions of higher education –
for students, faculty, and campus leaders alike. Much emphasis has been
placed on supporting students in these very uncertain times, especially as
many schools fight to maintain adequate resources needed to carry out their
educational missions. Faculty, of course, serve a vital role in fulfilling
those academic missions. Thus, faculty’s ability to teach effectively
remains central to students’ learning experiences and academic success,
particularly under our current extraordinary conditions.

Join past Institute Fellow Dr. Jessamyn Neuhaus, interim director of the
SUNY Plattsburgh Center for Teaching Excellence, for a critical
conversation about ways faculty can work together to foster the growth of a
community of scholarship and teaching in which faculty can flourish even in
the face of adverse circumstances.

The Institute for Ethics in Public Life is generously supported by gifts to
the Plattsburgh College Foundation. For further information about the
Ethics Institute, contact Dr. Jonathan Slater, director, at
slaterjr at plattsburgh.edu. Colloquies at the Ethics Institute are open to
the entire SUNY Plattsburgh community.
