Celebration of Scholarship

After careful discussion with our academic deans (who sought input from
within their schools) divisions), I have decided to accept their
recommendation that we postpone the annual "Celebration of Scholarship"
from its usual fall semester scheduling.

There is a general feeling that our current COVID restrictions and
inability to meet outside of zoom would compromise our ability to plan and
host a truly celebratory event.  I was looking forward to this event as a
way to learn more about research interests on our campus.  I also know that
one of the best aspects of such gatherings is genuine interaction--with
faculty presenters, with each other.  Thus, it does seem best to delay our
celebration for the time being.   We will revisit this topic in the spring
semester.
