Repression, Resistance and Collaboration in Stalinist Romania 1944-1964

Post-communist Remembering

Past Institute Fellow Dr. Monica Ciobanu, leads the colloquy at the
Institute for Ethics in Public Life on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, noon-1
p.m. Zoom only (link to follow)

Dr. Ciobanu, a member of SUNY Plattsburgh’s criminal justice faculty, will
be talking about her new book, just released by Routledge. Her work “examines
how the process of remembering Stalinist repression in Romania has
shifted...to state-sponsored expressions of historical remembrance through
their incorporation in official commemorations, propaganda sites, and
restorative and compensatory measures.”

Ethics Institute colloquies are open to students, faculty, administrators
and alumni.

The Fellowship program at the Institute for Ethics in Public Life is
supported by generous gifts to the Plattsburgh College Foundation.
