Dear Campus Community,

The Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion is developing a
student-centered initiative called B.R.A.V.E., which stands for Brave,
Resilient, Amplified Voices for Equity- mindedness.

The President's Inclusive Excellence Council in collaboration with staff,
faculty and students are starting a B.R.A.V.E. Space: Free Speech and
Responsibility Conversations series that will occur twice a month and runs
from October 7, 2020 to March 3, 2021.

Beginning Wednesday October 7, our first topic is: Why Vote?

The series will offer opportunities for the entire campus community to
listen, learn, share ideas, and move forward together. This B.R.A.V.E.
Space creates opportunities to:

Explain why it is important to vote in a democratic society

Explore how to address getting your ballot, and early voting

Examine how oppression can be woven into the voting process

Address audience questions about general voting

Brave Spaces require the courage to question the unquestionable and discuss
the undiscussable to move to a place where the quietest voices are
amplified.

Join the President’s Inclusive Excellence Council for the upcoming nine-
part B.R.A.V.E. Space: Free Speech and Responsibility Conversations series from
12:00 to 1:30 p.m.

Our October 7 B.R.A.V.E space is a collaboration between The President’s
Inclusive Excellence Council and the Ethics Institute.

Thank you!
