Hello Students and Employees,

This annual notice provides important information about your rights and
responsibilities under Title VI. By reviewing this notice and completing
your annual Title VI training, you will learn how to:

   -

Recognize harassment on the basis of race, color, or national origin and
   related misconduct.
   -

Report concerns to the DIRECT Bias Response Team
   <https://www.plattsburgh.edu/plattslife/diversity/direct.html> and Title
   VI Coordinator.
   -

   Access supportive measures and resources.
   -

Help create a safer, more respectful campus community.

What Title IX Covers

Title VI is a federal civil rights law that prohibits colleges and
universities that receive federal financial assistance from discriminating
on the basis of race, color, or national origin in educational programs and
activities.
Types of Prohibited Conduct

No one deserves to experience harm. Harassing conduct may lead to a hostile
environment that violates Title VI when there is unwelcome conduct based on
race, color, or national origin, including shared ancestry or ethnic
characteristics, and when considered under the totality of the
circumstances, the conduct is subjectively and objectively offensive and is
so severe or pervasive that it limits or denies a person's ability to
participate in or benefit from the institution's education, program or
activity.
Your Rights

All students and employees have the right to:

   -

Report to University Police, local law enforcement, and/or state
   policeβ€”or choose not to report.
   -

Report an incident to SUNY Plattsburgh.
   -

Be protected from retaliation for reporting.
   -

Receive assistance and resources from the University.

To make a report or referral:

   -

   Submit an online reporting form
   <https://www.plattsburgh.edu/plattslife/diversity/reporting-form.html>

Supportive Measures

After a report or referral is received by the DIRECT Bias Response Team
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/plattslife/diversity/direct.html>, a member of
the Team will reach out to you to discuss supportive measures and options
for moving forward.

Both students and employees may receive services from the Title VI
Coordinator.
