[Important Information for Students] National Day of Racial Healing: 1/21/2025

Dear Campus Community,

As we embrace this new year of 2025 and approach the Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 20, 2025, let us remember all that Dr.
King represented. Dr. King once said, “Faith is taking the first step even
when you can’t see the whole staircase.” Let us remember that we live in a
diverse society where some people may take the stairs, while others may
take the elevator or escalator. No matter what method and process we use to
get there, let us remember that as a Cardinal Family we should put forth
our best effort to make sure we all get there, together, and in a safe
manner.

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion invites all members of our
campus community to participate in the 2025 National Day of Racial Healing
which takes place on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. SUNY Plattsburgh will be
hosting a variety of conference-style programs, healing circles, and events
from 10 am to 3 pm in the Angell College Center (ACC). Some events will
also be available by Zoom.

Please find a copy of the flier and a link to the schedule enclosed in this
email. In addition, you will find a graphic enclosed for anyone that would
like to add visual support for the National Day of Racial Healing,
temporarily, to your email signature line. If participating (which is by
choice and not mandatory), we ask that you add the graphic

from today through Tuesday, January 21st and request that you keep the
graphic in your email signature until February 28, 2025.

Please note that the Office of Human Resource Services has granted release
time for this event. If you are interested in attending one or more
sessions, please coordinate with your supervisor.

This will be a busy semester. One that is sure to be filled with many
activities, hope and the promise of a better tomorrow. Although we cannot
list every event, we invite you to Save the Date for some upcoming

   Transgender Day of Visibility - March 31, 2025

   Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month - April 2025
   -

   TRHT Healing Circles - First Friday of each month in the H.U.B. from 12
   to 1 pm
