Hello Cardinals,
Because of a recent incident, we need to remind all SUNY Plattsburgh
students that our campus email accounts are *the* official channel for all
SUNY Plattsburgh communication with your fellow students, faculty, and
staff.
In particular, it is essential that you consistently use campus accounts
when communicating with your faculty about course related matters. Faculty
and staff have been advised *not* to respond to messages that you may send
from your personal/home accounts. They have also been asked to remind you,
if you do send a message on personal email, to resend the message on your
college email. Consistency with communication just makes everything easier
for faculty and staff, as well, when they are tracking emails from the many
students they teach and serve.
Please be aware that it’s relatively easy to try and impersonate someone
else through personal email. In contrast, our campus email accounts are
protected by multi-factor authentication, and thus provide strong security
for all of your communications while a student here at SUNY Plattsburgh.
