Welcome back to Cardinal Country! We are so excited to work with each of
you: new students starting your journey and returning students continuing
yours. Your success is important to me and all of us at SUNY Plattsburgh.
Move-in and Opening Weekend are just around the corner and I wanted to
share some information with you that we hope will make the process easier
and allow you and your families to plan.
*COVID Vaccine and Masking:*
Be aware that all students who will have a physical presence on campus, are
required to provide evidence of, at minimum, the initial course of COVID
vaccinations, or receive an exemption. Follow this link to learn more

Campus Updates.
Masks are not generally required to be worn on campus but are encouraged
for those that want to wear them. Masks are required in certain
circumstances as outlined on the COVID-19 Campus Updates

*Move-in:*
You can find your room assignment, move-in day and your student mailbox

To check-in, you’ll go directly to your assigned Residence Hall.

*New** On-Campus Students Coming from Within the US*
Move-in for new domestic students living on campus will take place on
Thursday, August 25 and Friday, August 26. *Students coming from outside
the United States (US), please reference the section below for
International Students. *Each domestic student has been assigned a
specific move-in day based on the first letter of their last name:
· A-M – Thursday, August 25, Check-in from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
· N-Z – Friday, August 26, Check-in from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
*Retuning** On-Campus Students*
Move-in for ALL returning students living on campus will take place on
Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28. Each student has been assigned
a specific move-in day based on the first letter of their last name:
· A-M – Saturday, August 27, Check-in from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
· N-Z – Sunday , August 28, Check-in from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
*New** On-Campus International Students Coming from Outside the US*
If you are living on campus, please adhere to the move-in dates and
processes already communicated to you by the SUNY Plattsburgh Global
Education Office (GEO). Please note that you must check in with your
Community Living Team on the first floor of your residence hall at some
point during Opening Weekend (Thursday, August 25 – Sunday, August 28).

(Tuesday, August 23 – Friday, August 26) and getting to know each other.
We encourage you to get to know many other students beginning on Opening
Weekend.
*Opening Weekend Activities:*
Attached to this email you will find the agenda for Cardinal Welcome Days.
This guide provides you with the activities we’ve planned throughout the
entire opening. More detailed information related to activities, office
hours, registration, etc., can be found here: Opening Weekend

We have many things planned for you so please join us at these events.
At 3:30 pm on Friday, August 26, on-campus students will meet in front of
each residence hall to walk to the *Matriculation Ceremony* which will take
place in the Memorial Hall Gymnasium at 4:00 PM. (Although rare, we have
had a few new students miss this event due to unavoidable circumstances.
We understand things can happen. Not attending will not impact your
student status at the College.)
*Information for Commuting Students:*
Although you won’t be living on-campus, we want you to know that you are
such an important part of our community, we have thought about you and want
you to join us for all of the events over your Opening Week. Follow this

Cardinal Welcome Days. Below are some highlights and special instructions.
*Friday, August 26 – 4:00 PM, Matriculation Ceremony* – Please park in the
parking lots of the Kehoe Administration Building, Lots 11 and 12 on

The ceremony will take place in the Memorial Hall Gymnasium on the left as
you walk in.
*Sunday, August 28 – 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Academic Department Meetings* –
All new students are expected to attend these meetings. Specific
locations for each academic school are shared on the Opening Week
Information Page

under New Student Events. At these meetings you’ll learn specifics about
your program, meet faculty and connect with other new students in your
major. Stay on campus and join us as we open the academic buildings from
1-3 pm so that you can find all of your classrooms. Park in the parking
lots near your Department meetings knowing that we will not be ticketing,
outside of vehicles parked illegally in “Handicapped Only” spaces, over
Opening Weekend.
