Dear Students,
We are writing to share with you the campus’ plans for a full on-campus
experience for students this coming fall at SUNY Plattsburgh.
Having lived through more than a year of diminished opportunities, we know
you will see this as welcome news.
The health directions and guidelines that have marked our lives will not
disappear entirely this fall. We will continue to comply with all federal,
state and local public health recommendations throughout this summer and
into the fall.
Even so, the pace of vaccinations and improving COVID trends make clear
that we can now plan for the next semester with greatly increased
face-to-face interactions that are essential for the strong Cardinal campus
community that is dedicated to serving you best.
As we work on our plans, here are some points to keep in mind:
- *We expect most classes will be in person. *Some courses will be
online or in a hybrid format, as in the past, adding value and flexibility
to student learning in particular areas.
- *Campus housing, community living and dining services will largely
match the pre-COVID landscape.* This includes the ability of more clubs,
organizations, athletics, and recreational sports to meet in person.
- *We will follow guidance as it comes.* At this point, we cannot
predict what guidelines (from the state and/or county) will be in place for
further testing, vaccinations, social distancing, and/or masking for the
fall semester, but we will be fully compliant with all health and safety
mandates. We will communicate specific health and medical requirements with
current and incoming students as soon as they are developed.
Nothing about this past year has been easy. COVID has changed each of us,
and it would be inaccurate to call this a return to normal. What will
continue is our commitment to you and to each other.
Our faculty and staff have a singular focus on working to make students'
educational goals come true. In this spirit, we are planning for the best
fall semester and 2021-2022 academic year possible for all of you as you
return to our campus.
