[Important Information for Students] Regional Financial Services Pilot Program

Dear Campus Community,

I am writing to share with you our plans to create a regional financial
services office here and at SUNY Potsdam, a combined operation designed to
achieve greater efficiencies with the financial and procurement functions
of the two campuses.

The combined operation will be led by our Vice President for Administration
and Finance Josee Larochelle, who will serve as Regional Chief Financial
Officer. Keith Kaplan, who has served as SUNY Potsdam’s interim vice
president for business affairs, will return to the Research Foundation’s
Central Office in Albany.  The pilot program will be evaluated at the end
of the calendar year and there will be quarterly status meetings.

This approach will streamline fiscal operations to better support our
students and will not impact the important academic programs and support
services we respectively provide on our campuses. This regional office will
include the following services:

   - eProcurement
   - Payment services
   - Strategic financial management
   - Budgeting
   - Financial reporting
   - Internal controls
   - Accounting services

Under Josee's leadership as Regional CFO, our employees currently working
in related Administration and Finance offices at SUNY Plattsburgh will
continue to do so. Each campus will safeguard data when fulfilling
services, in compliance with all applicable laws and SUNY policies. During
the pilot time, we will seek to share and benefit from staff expertise,
technology and SUNY purchasing power.

As the pilot continues, we will provide quarterly updates to the campus
communities on progress.
