Dear Students,
The first round of pooled-sample COVID-19 surveillance testing for more
than 500 students will be done Wednesday, Sept. 2 in Algonquin Dining Hall
from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
If you have an appointment for tomorrow, please attend at the time given
and follow the directions you were sent.
We have set the balance of testing days for Wednesdays, Sept. 9 and Sept.
16. This adjustment from our original schedule will ensure our timely
processing of results from SUNY Upstate Medical University. Exact
appointment times will be shared with you soon.
I am pleased we are able to provide this aggressive testing for the
approximately 1,600 on-campus students and we will look to expand from this
initial pool later.
A reminder: Appointment times cannot be adjusted. Accordingly, if the
testing protocol interferes with your ability to attend class then
your faculty should make accommodations.
Surveillance pool testing uses a saliva-testing method. Students administer
the test themselves by swabbing the inside of their mouth for 10 to 15
seconds and providing the saliva sample to medical personnel. Upstate
medical processes the results and advises us where isolation may be
indicated.
I appreciate all you are doing to remain vigilant and follow the Cardinal
Pledge. It matters to you, your friends and the entire campus and wider
community.

Vice President for Enrollment and Student Success
