Dear Cardinals,

It is hard to believe that we are already in week six of the semester!
Although the semester has not been typical, we are grateful for the
positive spirit you have shown in making the best of this challenging
year. We are very proud of our campus community for all that you have done
to keep yourselves and each other healthy and safe during this difficult
time. We are happy to see so many of you following guidelines about social
distancing, wearing face coverings, participating in pool testing and
more.

As you know, the impact of not following these rules can be significant
given the serious health issues related to COVID-19. Recently, the SUNY
Chancellor instituted a uniform sanctioning policy for all SUNY campuses
for violations of COVID-related safety protocols, which took effect on
October 1, 2020. This SUNY policy establishes minimum sanctioning
violations, including possible suspension from campus housing for at least
one year, suspension from classes for at least one year, or dismissal from
the University, depending upon the specific infraction.

We realize that these sanctions are severe, so it is important that you
understand the policy and the potential consequences for the decisions that
you make. Follow this link to read the Full Policy
<https://www.suny.edu/media/suny/content-assets/documents/chancellor/UniformSanctions-Response-COVID-19-Student-Violations.pdf>.
Please note that our Student Conduct Manual and Group Conduct Manual have
also been updated to reflect this policy. Follow this link to access
the Conduct
Manuals

.

Please keep up your commitment to a healthy community so that we can
continue our semester safely in-person and finish fall 2020 Cardinal Strong.

Best,

Cori Jackson, Assistant VP for Student Life

Steve Matthews, Director of Campus Housing and Community Living

Larry Allen, Director of Student Conduct

Cardinal Pledge

I will wear a mask, practice social distancing, wash my hands, avoid large
social gatherings/parties, stay home when sick and inform the health center.
