Dear Campus Community,
College Auxiliary Services (CAS) provides several essential services to the
SUNY Plattsburgh campus, and one of the largest components of our work
includes managing the dining services contract. For many years, Chartwells
has served our campus, and we are grateful for their partnership and
commitment to our students.
As part of our regular process, the dining services contract was recently
reviewed through a competitive bidding process. With extensive input from
campus constituents and guidance from the CAS Board of Directors, we have
selected Sodexo to be our new dining services partner. The transition will
be completed in January, in time for the start of the Spring 2026 semester.
*What does this mean for the campus community?*
- *Meal Plans:* Meal Plan rates will remain the same throughout this
academic year. Any future changes will follow the established process
through the CAS Board of Directors.
- *Our Team: *All hourly associates and supervisors will transition to
Sodexo and retain their seniority. Sodexo will also work with current
managers to support continuity and keep as many familiar faces here at
Plattsburgh as possible.
- *Dining Services:* Core dining operations, including campus locations,
hours of operation, and catering will continue without interruption. Sodexo
will introduce expanded menu options and new initiatives gradually, with
the goal of enhancing the dining experience.
- *Timing: *Chartwells will remain our partner through the Fall
semester. Over the next several months, CAS, Chartwells, and Sodexo will
work closely together to ensure a seamless handoff before Spring semester
begins.
*Information about Sodexo:*
- Sodexo manages nearly 500 campuses nationwide. They are a premiere
partner in dining services. They also serve SUNY Oneonta, SUNY New Paltz,
UAlbany, Binghamton, UVM and many other private schools throughout NY & VT.
- Sodexo is committed to fighting food insecurity, advancing
sustainability, fostering student belonging, and bringing healthy food to
campus. By the end of this year, Sodexo will ensure that 50% of entrees on
campus menus are plant-based. And 70% are low-carbon by 2030.
At CAS, our goal is to make this change as smooth and low-impact as
possible for the campus community. We’re excited about the opportunities
ahead with Sodexo and look forward to sharing details on new offerings in
the coming months.
If you have questions, please email plattsburghcas at plattsburgh.edu. Thank
you for your support as we thank Chartwells for their years of service and
welcome Sodexo to Cardinal Country.
