Dear Campus Community,

Facilities staff are responding to a high-temperature hot water leak
identified in a utility hole near the Angell College Center. Maintenance
and Operations crews are working along Rugar Street to assess and address
the issue. No digging is required, and all work will take place within the
utility manhole area.

The affected buildings include Memorial, Saranac, Health Center & UP,
Macomb, Kent, and Mason. Kent Hall has an alternate heat source through its
heat pump system. Domestic hot water remains available through electric
water heaters, which are not impacted by the high-temperature hot water
shutdown.

A contractor is expected on site tomorrow to assist with repairs and
provide an estimated timeline for restoration. Building occupants are asked
to keep windows closed to help maintain interior temperatures. Based on
current weather conditions, indoor temperatures are expected to remain in
the 60s overnight.

The university’s Emergency Operations Center remains partially activated in
a monitoring capacity. We will share updates as more information becomes
available.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as crews work to resolve
this issue.
Sincerely,
Magen Renadette
