Dear Campus Community,

The college will continue, until further notice, the requirement for indoor
face covering / masking in all campus buildings. This applies to everyone
-- faculty, staff, students and visitors -- regardless of vaccination
status.

We adopted this mask requirement a week before the semester began as the
density and activity on campus increased. Our plan was to evaluate by the
end of this week whether to continue the requirement based on the campus’
vaccination status, positivity rate, and/or other factors related to
external factors such as community spread.

Our vaccination status is rising, with about 97 percent of on-campus
resident students fully vaccinated or in process, and approaching 90
percent of the full student body and rising as we confirm statuses. About
72 percent of employees have attested to being fully vaccinated. The campus
positivity rate for COVID testing is also encouraging today, at just 0.28
percent.

Both metrics are stronger than the state as a whole and our local
community, though we must be continually mindful of health and safety to
stay that way.

Still, there are increasing levels of COVID in the North Country and the
establishment of variants in the local community. Accordingly, it is best
for us to continue with the indoor masking requirement as a simple,
effective mitigation tool. Additionally, the Clinton County Health
Department now strongly recommends that everyone, regardless of vaccination
status, follow the CDC guidance and return to mask wearing in indoor public
places.

A reminder: Masks should be worn properly indoors at all times. This
includes keeping the nose/mouth covered. Failure to abide by this may
result in referrals to the student conduct office and/or human resources as
necessary.

If you need a free mask, or want to replace a used mask, please visit the
library circulation desk, the information kiosk in the Angell College
Center or the Student Health and Counseling Center.

Thank you for all you are doing to keep our campus, your colleagues and
your communities safe. This is an effort that takes each of us to be
successful.
