Dear Members of Our SUNY Plattsburgh Community,
We have learned of the May 16, 2026, death of Julia Robinson of Keene, N.H., previously of Plattsburgh, a woman who held many titles over the years as she worked for the Plattsburgh State Art Museum and Feinberg Library. She was 79.
Ms. Robinson was a 1972 SUNY Plattsburgh alumna, having earned her bachelor's degree in art. She joined the staff as a tech assistant for the art gallery in November 1973, a position she held until her promotion to instructional support assistant in September 1988.
She served as an adjunct lecturer in the library for a short while from Jan. 20, 1993 until March 10 of that year, returning to campus as a temporary instructional support assistant in the library from December 1993 to February 194. She was an adjunct lecturer again from January 1994 to her last day on campus, March 25, 1994.
Raised in Silver Springs, Md., she was the first in her family to attend college and developed her lifelong love of art at the Cocoran School of Art in Washington, D.C.
She moved to Plattsburgh where she raised two children and became a fixture in the community, working at the Clinton County Historical Society as well as SUNY Plattsburgh. She earned her master’s degree from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She went on to earn her degree in library science from SUNY Albany and later became head reference librarian at Ohio University-Lancaster, a position she held for 25 years. Upon retirement, she moved to Keene, N.H.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 57 High St., Brattleboro, Vt., 05301, 603-622-1800.
