[Important Information for Employees] The Death of Former Admissions Placement Director Russell Hamilton

Dear Members of our Campus Community,
We were saddened to have recently heard of the April 27, 2026, death of Russell Hamilton G'71, who served in the admissions office from 1967 to 1978. He was 85.
Mr. Hamilton began his SUNY Plattsburgh career as an admissions counselor in August 1967 after earning a bachelor's degree in education from Mansfield State College in Pennsylvania in 1957. He taught school for about 10 years before joining the staff. He earned his master's in education at SUNY Plattsburgh during this time, completing the degree in 1971. In 1972, he was promoted to acting director of placement and then to assistant director of admissions in January 1974. A year later he was named director of placement, serving until he and his wife, Judy, relocated to Syracuse in 1978.
