[Important Information for Employees] Beware of latest phishing scam!

Good morning,

We have received reports of yet another email phishing scam targeting our
campus. The email subject line is "*Your Sunny Plattsburgh halted*" a
sample screenshot is included below.

This is a fraudulent message with the goal of tricking you into entering
your username and password into a "login screen" that looks exactly like
the normal Plattsburgh login screen.

*How can you quickly identify this is a phish?*


   - The email has miss spellings "SUNY" is spelled "Sunny" and the from
   address is from an @sandiego.edu account.
   - The Subject line has the [External} flag on it, meaning it was send
   from an external system. It was also very poorly worded.
   - The tinyurl link below should raise a flag, if you mistakenly clicked
   on it notice that it takes you to moneytalksblog.com/pit and not the
   normal cas.plattsburgh.edu login page (see second image below)

We appreciate the quick response from the campus community as numerous
people reported this as a suspicious email. Please remember that bad actors
increasingly are using social engineering to target and trick our end
users. Please review emails carefully and if you have any questions about
the validity of messages please refrain from responding and inquire at our
helpdesk for further guidance.
