[Important Information for Employees] Password Reset Required for some campus accounts

Campus Community,

Over the past week we have had a signficant increase in targeted phishing
against our campus accounts. We have identifed one source of the problem
and are taking corrective action now to mitigate it. ITS security systems
have detected that some campus accounts ( both campus netid and their
associated password hashes), have been found in known data breaches or are
listed on compromised password lists. These lists are accessible by bad
actors and are used as the starting point to gain entry to your account.

To protect campus systems and data, *any affected accounts will require a
password reset*. *If your account is impacted, you will be prompted to
change your password the next time you login to a campus workstation or
campus system (eg. the campus portal, brightspace, google suite etc). This
process will start on 7/16/2025.*

Once the new password is set it will be necessary to update your password
to reconnect to the campus wifi on your mobile device and update any other
locations where the old password by be cached.
