Campus Building Cooling Systems
Dear Campus Community,
As we move into the spring season and begin to enjoy warmer temperatures,
we’d like to remind the campus community of the process required to bring
our cooling systems online.
Activating these systems involves several critical steps, including:
-
Preparing each building’s cooling infrastructure
-
Cleaning and sanitizing the cooling towers
-
Conducting water sampling to comply with health and safety regulations
These regulated procedures must be completed before the systems can be
safely and effectively operated.
In addition, outside air temperatures must consistently remain above 50°F,
even overnight, before we can begin the cooling process. Starting the
system prematurely can cause issues with the chiller and refrigerant.
We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we await stable,
warmer temperatures to fully activate our campus cooling systems.
Best,
Facilities, Maintenance and Operations
