[Important Information for Employees] Phishing scam Alert

Campus Community,

We have a very disturbing email phishing scam going around the the subject
line of *[External] 2024 Payroll Notification* (as show below)

You should be able to tell immediately that this is a scam by looking at
the from address and then by hovering over the link and noticing it's
taking you to a random non plattsburgh affiliated site.
If you mistakenly click on the link you get a login screen as shown below

NOTICE that it looks just like our authentication page, BUT the URL at the
top is not the normal cas.plattsburgh.edu website, a sign that this is a
sophisticated scam, DO NOT ENTER YOUR CAMPUS CREDITIALS.

For now *we have blocked the connection out to this fake authentication
page* from our campus.

If you have been tricked by this and entered your credentials, please
contact our helpdesk at 518-564-4433, helpdesk at plattsburgh.edu or via our ITS
portal <http://its.plattsburgh.edu>for next steps. You will be required to
change your password.

We appreciate the quick reporting of this scam by various faulty and staff,
it allows us to take quicker actions to minimize possible impact.
