Dear Campus Community,

I am writing to update you on progress in planning for a relocation of
Clinton Community College to the SUNY Plattsburgh campus.

Three weeks ago I was appointed to advise the state system on the move,
focusing on potential changes, timelines, location/s, shared services, and
communications. To advance the latter, details and updates will continue to
be posted online weekly *on the Clinton Community College website*
<https://www.clinton.edu/college-relocation/default.aspx>, with a link also
from *plattsburgh.edu/clinton* <http://plattsburgh.edu/clinton>.

*Joint Coordinating Committee and Initial Work*
The work to date has largely involved groundwork, gathering and regathering
information on space needs, information technology capabilities, costs and
financial aspects. This detail work will continue as we advance this
semester toward a common plan.

To help create this, *a team of 16 colleagues*
<https://www.clinton.edu/college-relocation/Joint_Coordinating_Committee.aspx>
is
serving on a joint coordinating committee, with expertise centered on these
areas. Their insights and advice is central to our success.

*Ad Hoc Committees and Initial Focus*
In addition to this ongoing work, the State University Construction Fund
visited both campuses last Friday. From that, their examination of
potential locations for Clinton Community College is currently focusing on
Algonquin and Adirondack halls, both unoccupied. Space in these areas could
be developed for core Clinton operations, faculty offices and some academic
requirements.

Also, special study committees beyond the joint group are being developed,
with an initial key on needs related to specialized academic space,
classroom scheduling, and the library. These will involve added people at
each campus to lend expertise and ideas to the deeper aspects.

*Shared Work and Purpose*
The joint groundwork ahead includes further examinations into Clinton
student demographics, potential for shared services, logistics around the
same, and continued study of space needs and options. The common
information online will be expanded over the next few weeks, too, to
include answers to common questions and additional areas as available.

This work is being done together on behalf of our common community and with
the shared priority we all place in the value of higher education and its
availability to our region. I appreciate the investment of time, energy and
effort of both institutions toward this initiative.

Best,

Ken Knelly
