[Important Information for Employees] The Death of Mary Elizabeth "Betty" O'Leary

Dear Members of our Campus Community,

We were saddened to have learned of the death of Mary Elizabeth “Betty”
O’Leary Sept. 11, 2023 at her Plattsburgh Home. She was 89.

Ms. O’Leary joined the faculty and staff in 1993 after an already full
career in school counseling, first as a high school guidance counselor at
the former St. John’s High School in Plattsburgh and then at Clinton
Community College as its registrar and later a counselor in the counseling
department. She retired as the director of counseling in 1991. Missing the
interaction between faculty, staff and students, she started teaching as an
adjunct lecturer in human resources at SUNY Plattsburgh less than two years
later. She became staff assistant in Career Life Planning in August 1996
and began teaching as an adjunct in child and family services in September
1997. Ms. O’Leary retired in November 1999.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, Sept. 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the R.W.
Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh. Burial will be at a later
date in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted with R. W. Walker
