Dear Campus Community,
Last night, a SUNY Plattsburgh student was struck by a car while crossing
Broad Street in the area of the Newman Center crosswalk. University Police
responded to the accident, and they are continuing to assist the
Plattsburgh Police Department with the investigation.
The student was initially brought to CVPH Medical Center, and has since
been transferred to UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT for additional
care.
At this time, we have been in contact with the student's mother and are
providing whatever support possible.
Additionally, various departments on campus are currently reaching out to
students connected to the young woman involved, to provide resources and
support.
Because this impacts all of campus, please know that help is also available
for all students and employees. Students are encouraged to contact the
Health and Counseling Center at 518-564-3086 / healthcenter at plattsburgh.edu.
Students are also reminded that the Student Assistance Program (SAP)
provides free, 24/7 telehealth counseling by texting or calling
1-800-327-2251 and/or by going online to portal.BHSonline.com
<http://portal.bhsonline.com>and inputting username: SUNYPlattsburgh
Additionally, employees are encouraged to contact Kim McCoy Coleman,
Employee Assistance Program Coordinator located in 401A Beaumont Hall, at
eap at plattsburgh.edu for support and for additional referrals to community
resources and services.
We ask that you please keep our fellow Cardinal in your thoughts as we all
hope for her full healing and recovery.
Sincerely,
Dr. Alexander Enyedi
President
