Dear Campus Community,

Good morning and welcome to the Spring 2023 semester at SUNY Plattsburgh!

As we begin a new semester, I look forward to seeing the campus return to
life with the beginning of classes, activities, events, and student
services.

I am also looking forward to Winterfest, which will begin on Friday,
February 10 and run through Sunday February 19. This year’s events will
include an outdoor gathering at Hawkins Pond on Saturday, February 18
(weather permitting) with snowshoeing, ice skating on the pond, music, and
other activities. Be on the lookout for posters and other messages
advertising various events across campus during the festival.

Additionally, with Black History Month beginning on February 1, the Office
for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion has plans for a variety of events and
activities that they will host throughout the month. Please watch for
updates and information about these in the Digest and campus emails.

A new year and a new semester is such a wonderful opportunity to reflect on
all the great work we have done, and to look forward to what is ahead.
Together, we accomplished so much last semester, and I look forward to all
we will do in 2023.

I know that each of you makes every effort to ensure that our students are
aware of the many resources
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/about/offices-divisions/student-affairs/organizational-structure.html>
available to guide and support them throughout the semester. I ask that you
continue to share this information with them at every opportunity.

Additionally, please also remind students of the Student Assistance Program
<https://portal.bhsonline.com/auth/hashcode> (SAP) that launched last
November through our Counseling Center
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/plattslife/health-safety/health-counseling-center/index.html>
to provide students with 24/7 access to trained counselors and other
professionals who can assist issues related to mental health. cultural
diversity, academic or career stress, and financial or legal concerns.
While we work to share the SAP information more broadly across campus,
faculty and staff can help ensure that students are aware of this
incredibly helpful resource.

And because your health and wellness is so important to our campus,
remember that our Employee Assistance Program
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/about/offices-divisions/administration-finance/about-us/offices/employee-assistance-office.html>
(EAP)
is available to help all SUNY Plattsburgh employees, retirees, and their
families with personal, family, and workplace issues. EAP services are
provided at no cost, and they are voluntary and confidential.

Thank you for your consistent commitment to our students and to SUNY
Plattsburgh. And as always, I invite you to schedule a time to meet with me
during President’s Office Hours
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/about/president-leadership/office-hours.html>
to share ideas about how we can all work together to support and sustain
our vibrant college.

I wish each of you an outstanding and rewarding Spring semester, and I look
forward to all the great work we will do together. It truly is a great time
to be a Cardinal!

Sincerely,

Dr. Alexander Enyedi

President
