Campus Community,

As we continue working to align our campus with the SUNY-mandated print
initiative, our next phase is to reduce the number of single-function
devices on campus.

The units selected for removal are small, stand-alone printers with no
scanning, copying, or faxing capabilities.

For the time being, we will continue service and support for the following
SUNY-approved, single-function devices:

   - LaserJet Color M551
   - LaserJet 600 M602
   - LaserJet M605
   - LaserJet P4015
   - Laserjet CP1525nW
   - Laserjet Pro 400
   - Color Laserjet Enterprise CP4525dn

These devices will eventually be moved to a secure print system where
prints are released via QR code (more detailed instructions to come). They
will continue to be serviced and supported by SymQuest.

*What to expect*
Beginning shortly, a member of the ITS team will be conducting an onsite
audit and assessment of single-function devices on campus. We will be
removing SymQuest tags from unsupported devices.

For now, the devices will stay in place, and you can continue to use them.
Please note, however, that you will be unable to purchase toner or other
supplies, and no service for them will be available. Once the printer runs
out of consumables or has a hardware error, we will collect the device and
have it recycled.

If your area has an unwanted or unneeded LaserJet, please contact the ITS
Helpdesk
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/academics/resources/technology/helpdesk/index.html>now.
We will have it collected.

If you have any questions about the removal of devices, please contact Casey
Casamento <casamecj at plattsburgh.edu> to discuss options.

Thank you for helping us to move ahead on this important project.

Regards,

*TJ Myers*
