Colleagues,

I am so excited to assist in announcing a really fabulous event next week.
Dr. Sheena Mason, alumna from our English Department and the Honors
Program, will be spending Thursday, 9/29/22, on campus with our students
and the larger community. See details below. Please spread this news
widely and encourage students to attend! It would be wonderful to make
sure we have a great turnout for Dr. Mason's 5:30 p.m. presentation in
Krinovitz Hall.

*Dr. Sheena Mason (formerly Sheena Garrant) will be returning to the SUNY
Plattsburgh campus to speak to students in the Honors Program and the
English department -- and to present her new book, The Theory of
Racelessness, on Thursday, Sept. 29th.*

*Dr. Mason graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in December 2007. She majored in
English and was a member of the Honors program. As an Honors Program
student, she completed an Advanced Honors Project on African-American
identity and gave the student commencement address at the winter 2007
ceremony. After leaving SUNY Plattsburgh, she completed a PhD at Howard
University in Washington D.C. She is currently an assistant professor of
English at SUNY Oneonta.*

*Itinerary:*

*She will be meeting with students in the Honors Center from 10:00-11:00.*

*12:30-2:00 she will discuss her Advanced Honors Project (undergraduate
thesis) with Honors students and English majors in the James Augustus
Wilson Commons in CVH.*

*She will conclude her day with the presentation of her book, The Theory of
Racelessness: A Case for Anti-Racism at 5:30-7:00 in Krinovitz Hall (in
Hawkins). This is open to the public and all campus members. There is no
