Dear Faculty & Staff:
Over the past 3 days, the Student Health & Counseling Center has had 7
cases of confirmed or suspected influenza A. These cases mirror what is
happening throughout New York: early increases in respiratory viruses, such
as influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). These early increases
highlight the importance of optimizing respiratory virus protection:
- Anyone who has not received an influenza vaccine this season or who is
not up to date with COVID-19 is strongly encouraged to vaccinate soon.
Influenza and COVID-19 vaccines can be administered at the same visit.
Vaccination is the best way to reduce the chance of illness and
complications, including those resulting in hospitalization and death, from
influenza and COVID-19. Make a vaccination appointment at a local pharmacy
here <https://www.vaccines.gov/>, or contact your healthcare provider.
The Clinton County Health Department
<http://www.clintonhealth.org/covid19vaccine/> has 2 upcoming COVID-19
bivalent booster clinics, and the Warren County Health Department
<https://warren-county-ny-covid-19-warrencountyny.hub.arcgis.com/pages/vaccines>
has 1 upcoming clinic.
- Mask in crowded indoor areas and practice good hand hygiene.
- Test promptly for COVID-19 and influenza, especially if you are at
high risk for severe illness and eligible for antiviral treatments.
With the holidays fast approaching, we encourage everyone to get their
shots as soon as possible to protect your friends, family and yourselves.
