To the campus community:
Colleges and universities are facing serious threats of ransomware attacks.
Recent reports indicate that our sector is being hit harder than is the
case for other organizations.
Our campus continues to take steps to address this particular issue, with
ITS teams rolling out processes and technologies to help protect against
threats. Examples include:
- Enabling Duo multi-factor authentication on all accounts
- Eliminating administrative access on most campus computers
- Enabling Malwarebytes End-Point Detection and Response software on all
campus-owned computers
- Creating secure, encrypted, and tested backup solutions in the event
data recovery is needed
- Securing robust email filtering and web security protections
- Enabling centralized logging of systems, with 24/7 monitoring and
notification for actionable events
- Purchasing cyber-security insurance to help the college recover should
a large-scale event ever occur.
*Are these steps sufficient? *
Not without *your *help. We need everyone to do their part to keep our
environment safe and secure. For a refresher on tips and best
practices, We invite
you to review our Information Security web page

Thank you for helping to keep our campus community cyber-safe.
