[Important Information for Employees] Changes in Enrollment and Student Success

Dear Campus Community,

I am writing to share changes being made today in the enrollment and
student success division.

Cori Jackson has been named interim vice president for enrollment and
student success. She will replace R. Lizzie Wahab.

Since arriving on campus as residence hall development director in 1992,
Cori has held a range of positions of increasing responsibility in the
division, most recently serving as assistant vice president. She brings a
deep understanding of administration, management and leadership. Most
important has been her long dedication to students through areas ranging
from involvement and campus life to activities and programming.

Additionally, Steve Matthews has been named interim dean of students. He
also brings a wealth of experience to the role. Most recently serving as
director of campus housing and community living, he joined the college
after earning undergraduate (1990) and graduate (1995) here. Over the
years, he has served as an assistant vice president, dean of students, led
in areas from orientation to judicial affairs, and taught classes.

Joining this leadership team is Michele Carpentier, who will continue to
serve as assistant vice president for enrollment and student success and
director of special programs. Michele's commitment to student support is
unsurpassed and a decades-long example to others. With these changes,
Michele plans to continue in a full-time role through June 2023, one year
longer than she had planned.

This semester we will evaluate the best structure for the division moving
forward and plan for any resulting searches that will be necessary. These
include adjustments to staffing to support these areas this semester in the
interim.

We are a student-centered campus above all else. Students are why we are
here, why we exist. As we lean into our Plattsburgh Next strategic plan and
emerging priorities for the SUNY system, it will remain at the center of
all we do.
