Dear Campus Community,
I hope you had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed some well deserved time to
rest and recharge.
This afternoon, I sent an email to students updating them on our plans for
spring reopening based on the latest guidance issued by Governor Kathy
Hochul. I am forwarding that message so you are aware of expectations for
their return to campus.
I also want to share that Gov. Hochul has selected SUNY Plattsburgh, along
with nine other SUNY campuses, as a COVID community testing site. We will
be providing space on campus for this effort and will coordinate with those
outside the college who will be running the site and conducting the
testing. We will share more information, including testing dates and times,
as it becomes available.
We had hoped to be moving past COVID-19 rather than planning for another
semester of testing and vaccines. But we must accommodate the ever-changing
landscape of this evolving situation. I understand the added challenges
these present. As we move forward, I am committed to keeping you informed
and updated as information becomes available so that, together, we can help
our students succeed.
Thank you for your commitment and for your investment in our students and
our campus.

Dear Cardinals,
Happy New Year. I hope you had a safe and happy holiday and are enjoying a
restful break.
As part of our ongoing commitment to keep you fully informed about our
spring campus reopening, I am writing to share important information with
steps you need to take to follow the latest New York State guidance
<https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-hochul-announces-spring-semester-guidance-has-been-issued-suny-and-cuny-campuses>
issued
by Governor Kathy Hochul over the weekend.
*In order to return to campus for spring 2022, all students must:*
- Receive a CO <http://vaccines.gov/>VID booster <http://vaccines.gov/> to
attend on-campus classes or live in on-campus housing.
- Have a COVID test
<https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/find-test-site-near-you>taken no more
than 72 hours before arriving on campus for any reason. You must provide
dated documentation of your negative test result. If you test positive 72
hours hours prior to your scheduled arrival on campus, please stay home.
Faculty and staff are prepared to assist you and will support your ability
to stay on track as we begin the semester.
- Participate in COVID testing during the first week of on-campus
classes, regardless of vaccination status. Testing times and locations will
be provided in the coming days.
Given the long wait times for booster appointments, you are strongly
encouraged to make an appointment now and get boosted as soon as possible.
Waiting until you arrive on campus may result in longer wait times and
delays that could negatively impact your health and safety as well as your
ability to attend classes and live in residence halls.
I understand that this is a stressful time. Please be assured we are all
here to help you as you take these necessary steps so you and all on campus
can have a safe and successful semester.
Many thanks for your continued perseverance and commitment to this effort.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
