Dear Cardinal Community,
I am writing to share our COVID-related plans for the Fall 2022 semester.
As we have since the onset of the pandemic, the College has developed these
most recent guidelines by following the public health directions of SUNY,
New York State, the Clinton County Department of Health, and CDC
guidelines. We will continue to operate, and to update our operations, in
accordance with their recommendations..
Full details for the Fall 2022 semester are posted online at
plattsburgh.edu/covid-19.
Here are some highlights:
Vaccinations
-
All students who will have a physical presence on campus must complete
the initial course of COVID vaccinations.
<https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/stay-up-to-date.html?s_cid=11748:%2Bfully%20%2Bvaccinated%20%2Bcdc:sem.b:p:RG:GM:gen:PTN:FY22>
A medical or religious exemption may be requested
<https://machform.plattsburgh.edu/view.php?id=364890>. Previously
approved exemptions will carry into the fall semester.
-
Boosters are not required but are strongly encouraged for those who are
eligible.
-
Students enrolled in any program or course or who are participating in a
clinical or internship off-campus must continue to comply with the
location's vaccination and/or testing protocols.
Testing
-
Students who are not fully vaccinated or who have a COVID-19 vaccination
exemption must participate in surveillance testing the second week of the
Fall semester and during the week of November 29 upon returning from
Thanksgiving break.
-
Anyone not feeling well or having a known recent exposure to COVID-19 is
encouraged to test before arriving on campus. Those who receive a positive
COVID-19 test result should stay home and isolate per CDC guidelines
<https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/quarantine-isolation.html>
.
Testing Access and Availability
-
The College has a supply of home antigen tests that students may pick up
at the Student Health Center.
-
Employees should contact their primary care provider or visit the New
York State COVID-19 testing website
<https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-testing> for PCR testing
availability.
-
Employees may order free antigen tests at COVID.gov
<https://www.covid.gov/tests> and the Clinton County Health Department
<http://www.clintonhealth.org/#xl_xr_page_home>, as well as in
pharmacies and retail stores. Private health insurance may reimburse the
cost of authorized self-tests
<https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/coronavirus-covid-19-and-medical-devices/home-otc-covid-19-diagnostic-tests?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery#list>
.
Masks
-
Masks are not generally required to be worn on campus or while on the
campus shuttle.
-
Masks are required in certain circumstances:
-
While in the Student Health and Counseling Center;
-
In areas of the campus when specifically posted;
-
As required by a third-party location that provides instruction,
internship activities, etc.
-
In close spaces, such as faculty offices, where staff members and/or
students are meeting and an individual asks for a mask to be worn;
-
For specific on-campus events, at the college’s discretion.
-
Students and employees who are unvaccinated are encouraged to wear a
mask on campus.
-
Some members of our Cardinal community will choose to mask for a number
of reasons. This may include immunocompromised conditions. As a
mask-friendly campus, we respect and encourage individual decisions around
personal health, safety and circumstances.
Isolation and Quarantine
-
Students living in on-campus residential life who have a positive
COVID-19 test result should isolate per CDC guidelines
<https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/quarantine-isolation.html>
, either at a designated space on campus or at their permanent, off
campus residence.
-
Students living off campus who test positive will be required to isolate
themselves in their off-campus residence.
-
Employees who have a positive COVID-19 test result should notify Human
Resource Services at 518-564-5062 or hrs at plattsburgh.edu and isolate per CDC
guidelines
<https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/quarantine-isolation.html>
at
their home residence.
SUNY Plattsburgh will continue to monitor local community and campus
conditions. We will adjust recommendations and/or requirements as necessary
based on directives from the CDC, state, and/or county health department.
These will be communicated to the campus.
Thank you for your continued support as we look forward to a safe, healthy
and successful Fall 2022 semester.
Alexander Enyedi
President
