[Important Information for Employees] Expanded Liberal Leave - Encouraging Employee Vacation Use

SUNY Plattsburgh employees have been working diligently over the past 18+
months to ensure that our campus continues to operate during these
challenging times. As a result, many employees have not had the
opportunity to use as much of their vacation time as they typically do.
Vacation time is important to an employee’s mental and physical health and
that is why the college will expand its current liberal leave policy.
While any use of vacation time must be coordinated with your supervisor,
using vacation time during periods of liberal leave allows for reduced
staffing in most areas.
In an effort to recognize the continued dedication of our employees, and to
allow for more use of vacation time, we are expanding liberal leave as
follows:

Christmas/New Year Break – Thursday, December 23rd through Friday,
December 31st

July 4th Holiday – Friday, July 1st through Friday, July 8th
Some areas may have to maintain minimal staffing during this time,
depending on the specific work commitments of each department. It is
important to communicate with your supervisor to minimize conflict between
vacation plans and operational needs. For additional information and a
full listing of all holidays and liberal leave days, please reference
the Holiday
