Dear Campus Community,

I write today with several acknowledgments. First, I want to recognize that
the last two weeks have been difficult for many members of our community.
Some of us have experienced high levels of turmoil and frustration related
to the incident between two of our students and our University Police. Our
attention was pulled in several directions as we grappled with social
injustice perspectives dominating social media and news feeds.  Second, you
were made aware that I am transitioning from the institution at the end of
the semester. Know that I am committed to ensuring that the work and
foundation of the last two years is sustained and moves forward
successfully.

As we enter week ten, I want to reaffirm my commitment to our work
together.  A deep thank you to all students, faculty, staff, and alumni who
have helped to identify our next steps, and who will take part in the
ongoing efforts to put them into action. I want to share some updates as we
move forward:

   - The Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion has relocated from Kehoe
   610 to Hawkins 102, the Northeast corner of Hawkins Hall. Please join us on
   Friday November 5, for an open house from noon to 4:00 p.m.

   - Black Solidarity Day, today, November 1, Student Association will host
   the dedication of  the Black Lives Matter mural in ACC at 7:00 p.m.. Also,
   Black Onyx will host a sit-in in the ACC below the stairs at 12:00- 4:30
   p.m.. Please support each event.

   - Cross racial conversations: We will continue to host community
   dialogues that bring together cross-racial groups to share stories, disrupt
   unjust narratives and behaviors and speak as a community. We will host two
   Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation™ Rx Healing® Circles,Tuesday,
   November 2 and Thursday, November 4 in the Cardinal Lounge from 12:00 -1:00
   p.m..

   - A Student Diversity Council has been formed and more students are
   welcome to join by emailing diversity at plattsburgh.edu. The next meeting
   is Friday November 12, at 6:00 p.m. in the HUB. Dinner will be served.

   - Inclusive Excellence Strategic Plan: The final draft of our Inclusive
   Excellence strategic plan will be shared with the community on November 12.

   - Equity Advocate training: We will be offering the second Equity
   Advocate cohort training. If you would like to nominate

   or other colleagues please complete the attached form by Friday, November
   5. The training will be held Monday November 15, Wednesday November 17,
   Friday November 19,  and Monday November 22 from 12:00-1:15 p.m. in the
   HUB. Lunch will be served.

Continue to take good care of yourself and your loved ones. And, to quote
the great peacemaker Dag Hammarsjold, *“For all that has been - Thanks. For
all that shall be – Yes”.*
