Dear Cardinal Community,

We welcome all community members to begin 2021 from a place of discovery,
truth-telling and hope. We invite you to join us in a month-long
educational campaign called *28 Days of Equity*! We are inviting the entire
college community to read articles, watch videos, listen to podcasts/music,
and reflect on what we learned and felt.

Our *28 Days of Equity* will kick off on February 1, the first day of Black
History Month. Each day we will provide daily reminders to educate you
about different aspects of equity and diversity; with emphasis on the
impacts of bias, the experiences of anti-Black racism and having courageous
conversations about racism. The goal is two-fold; to build our collective
sensitivity of racial equity while moving us from talk to intentional
action, and to challenge us to do our own work to address inequity in our
daily lives. All daily posts will also include information on historical
figures that are African American in commemoration of Black History Month.

Beginning on February 1, look out for posts of daily activities on
INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOK and the daily digest. Let’s use
#CardinalEquityChallenge to show that we are in this together.

There is no registration to participate in the challenge, unless you’d like
to sign up to win a prize for engaging most with the daily content. At the
end of February, a community member from each category; students, staff and
faculty will receive a prize for their highest level of daily engagement.
Follow @h.u.b__sunyplatts on Instagram to stay up-to-date on each day’s
activities. Email diversity at plattsburgh.edu with any questions or
suggestions.

Sean Rice, the coordinator of multicultural initiatives, reflected, “as a
community we have a thirst for knowledge and seek opportunities to grow!
Through our Black History Month initiative, we are serving up a smorgasbord
of knowledge, so stay connected and be ready to be fed all month long!”

We look forward to partnering with each of you as we embark on this
exciting initiative together.

With warmest regards,
