Dear Campus Community,
The FDA approval of the Pfizer COVID vaccine on Monday activated the state
requirement for student vaccinations across the SUNY system. This is a
welcome development and supports our goal of health and safety.
We had already put into place a vaccine requirement for students
participating in certain portions of campus life due to heightened health
and safety considerations, such as those living in residence halls and
participants in collegiate, club, and intramural sports. The requirement
now applies to all students accessing campus facilities.
The Campus Housing office has already gathered vaccine proof from about 80
percent of the students moving in later this week. That percentage will
continue to grow and outpaces the general Clinton County population.
SUNY is requiring students to complete their vaccinations no later than 35
days from the date of approval, or by Monday, Sept. 27. Failure to comply,
or to gain a medical or religious exemption, can cause a student to be
unenrolled from on-campus classes. Upcoming vaccine clinics this week and
next will help promote compliance.
These and other steps, such as our current indoor masking requirement in
campus buildings regardless of vaccination status, are taken to promote the
health and safety of our community. Any employees who are not fully
vaccinated are required to complete weekly pooled surveillance testing. We
encourage all employees to become fully vaccinated.
In addition, all students will participate in pool testing the first week
of class regardless of vaccination status.

President
