Dear Campus Community,
I am writing to share news on the outcome of two searches recently
undertaken in the Office of the President.
We had a strong slate of candidates for both positions. After a thorough
review, I am pleased to announce the selection of two people:
- Heather Haskins, an experienced communications, public relations and
branding professional, will join the office as executive director of
strategic communications and marketing. Heather, an alumnae of both Clinton
Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh, is currently communications
administrator at the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic
Violence, where she leads communications, integrated messaging, and project
management. She has served at the agency for 17 years, working with media
and others to advance agency priorities and responses around gender-based
violence within a survivor-centered, trauma-informed framework. She has
coordinated the state Domestic Violence Advisory Council, the state's
Domestic Violence Dashboard to drive state policy and legislative
proposals, and statewide training curricula and policy. Her past roles
include domestic violence program specialist with Clinton County and
English teaching at Seton Catholic. She has also taught writing and
communications at Bryant & Stratton College in Albany. In addition to
degrees from Clinton (A.A.S. in Human Services) and SUNY Plattsburgh (B.S.
in English), she has earned degrees from Concordia College in Montreal
(M.A. in English) and Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. (M.F.A. in
Creative Nonfiction). Heather will begin her role on Monday, Sept. 13.
- Cherice Granger, a veteran administrative assistant at the Center for
the Study of Canada and the Institute for Quebec Studies, will join the
office as executive secretary. Cherice is a longtime active member of the
SUNY Plattsburgh community, working in a range of volunteer positions on
and off campus. In her current role, she plans special events, manages a
flow of important communications, serves students within the Canadian
Studies program, among other duties. She is co-chairperson of the college's
important SEFA Committee, receiving the Governor's Award for Excellence in
Fundraising and working with the United Way of the Adirondack Region. Her
campus committee work has ranged from Middle States and strategic planning
to student conduct. Cherice is a former adjunct lecturer in child
development in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Clinton
Community College and has also taught in the SUNY Plattsburgh Fitness
Center. In addition to a degree from SUNY Cobleskill (A.A.S. in Business),
Cherice has earned a B.S. in Psychology and taken several graduate classes
in counseling, administration and leadership at SUNY Plattsburgh. Cherice
will begin her role in August.
As I shared previously, the Office of Marketing has combined with campus
communications to form the unit Heather Haskins will lead from the Office
of the President. The group will grow efforts to tell our stories, reach
across divisions, develop innovative digital marketing strategies, use a
wide range of platforms including video, and assist in areas of media,
campus and community relations.
This robust team, along with Ken Knelly as chief of staff, will help me
lead the college, along with the vice presidents, deans, and many others
in critical positions.
This is an important time for us all as we begin the semester, and I am
confident these two individuals will serve the college well.
Alexander Enyedi
President
