[Important Information for Employees] COVID-19 Case Update | Departure Testing Continues Thursday

Dear Campus Community,

The college recorded seven new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Over the past
14 days, 37 total cases have been recorded.

Also today, we completed the first day of mandatory COVID-19 testing for
departing students with 1,348 samples taken. We will share these results
when available. Testing continues Thursday and Friday. Requirements and
exceptions for mandatory testing are online at *plattsburgh.edu/COVID-19*
<http://plattsburgh.edu/COVID-19>.

By direction of the county health department, 79 students (39 on-campus and
40 off-campus) and five employees are in mandatory or precautionary
quarantine. Additionally, four students are in precautionary isolation
having tested negative with rapid tests but awaiting back-up PCR test
results.

Decisions by the health department for quarantine are based on an
assessment of potential exposure to help prevent possible viral
spread. Those in isolation and quarantine are being released as they
recover and risk times expire.

We continue to see record numbers of new cases in our region, around the
state and across the country. In the last week-plus of the on-campus fall
semester, a focus on prevention, health and safety is critical. This
includes:

   - Complete the daily health screening

   - Follow the Cardinal Pledge, including face coverings, distancing and
   avoiding large social gatherings.
   - Stay local and avoid travel outside the area for the duration of the
   semester.
