[Important Information for Employees] LITS Security Alert on Mail Quota Email Scam

Please be alert to a *Mail Quota Email Scam *that is currently hitting
campus email accounts.

Scammers behind this email falsely claim that the recipient's mailbox size
has reached capacity. The message contains the following language:

Your mailbox can no longer send or receive messages. update your storage
UPDATE STORAGE
Mailbox address:
"xxx.xxxxx at plattsburgh.edu"


*Delete such email messages.* If you have replied to the message or taken
actions as a result, contact the Helpdesk without delay (phone:
518-564-4433  /  800-787-8773  / email: helpdesk at plattsburgh.edu).

Cyber-criminals behind phishing emails like this one attempt to obtain
sensitive information such as login credentials (passwords, emails, etc.),
credit card details or other details that could be used for malicious
purposes.

Remember, never provide passwords or other sensitive information in
response to unsolicited emails.
