When Akanksha Misra, assistant professor of gender and women’s studies,
moved to Plattsburgh from Seattle, she had to balance full-time teaching,
research and breastfeeding “with no helping hand” as her partner was
finishing his doctorate dissertation. Those challenges were to be expected.
The North Country’s shortage of childcare service providers was not. Read

The SUNY Plattsburgh Departments of Music & Theatre presents “9 to 5 The
Musical,” based on the 1980s movie starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and
Lily Tomlin. It will be held at the Strands Center for the Arts from Nov.
10 to 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. General admission tickets are
$15 and available for purchase at the Strands Center for the Arts website.

It is natural to get caught up in student-athletes’ work on the field, ice,
track or court, but we often forget the work they do off of it. This work
was seen recently when Plattsburgh’s Student Athlete-Advisory Committee
hosted Trunk or Treat Oct. 30 at the Field House Athletic Complex. Read

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a common childhood
disability. Many of these children and adults also rely on stimulants to
function, one of the most common being Adderall. Yet, the FDA announced
Oct. 12 there is a shortage of the drug. Read more about the shortage in
