[Academic-Affairs] Honorary Degree Committee - call for ex officio volunteers

For those who have been away or “off contract,” it’s been a warm summer
here in Plattsburgh! Hard to believe we are a few weeks away from the
welcome back events and “regular” meetings which start the week of August
18, and matriculation on Thursday, 8/21.

I would like to make a call for ex officio members for this year's Honorary
Degree Committee

which
will be working August - October. If you are interested, please reply to
this message by August 15. As a non-voting member, you would not need to
make the same time commitment as the dedicated voting members. This
important committee has several people who have served many times before,
and this would be a great way for new people to learn about the committee’s
work and perhaps serve as a full member the following year. Chairperson
Prof. Shakuntala Rao will be developing a process for reviewing nominations

and
so you would also have the opportunity to contribute to this year’s
process. We are fortunate that the President has entrusted the
administration of this process to Academic Affairs, so there can be a
strong voice for all our community (not only those in AA) to help with this
special recognition. Campus president recommendations regarding Honorary
Degrees are governed by SUNY policy
